Movie Ratings and Reviews

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Great follow up to the original with a fun twist

The Shape of Water

Should have been so much more

Agenda driven nonsense.

Captain America: Civil War

Ridiculous plot, nonsensical motivations all to create a fun 20 minute fight scene fraught with no peril or concern for characters well being.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Wonderful film. Highly recommended

Yoga Hosers
Yoga Hosers(2016)

What was the point of this film?

Hell or High Water

Very well crafted. Superb acting. Taut story line. Can't recommend highly enough

The Magnificent Seven

Failed to live up to the original.

Fun well written comedy

Bleed For This

Great boxing movie. Definitely a move for fight fans

Doctor Strange

One of the few good Marvel Universe films

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Best star wars film since Empire Strikes Back. Wish they would have follow the themes and temper of this film for the new trilogy.

Fist Fight
Fist Fight(2017)

Decent if you have time to waste

T2 Trainspotting

Fun sequel, but would have preferred it to follow the book instead of re-imagining a new story line

The Lost City of Z

Long, but well paced. Enjoyable film

Not the directors best work, but an enjoyable film

Saban's Power Rangers

Nice way to revive the film franchise

Absolutely Anything

Hard for me to give a Simon Peg film such a low rating, but this was a pretty half-assed movie

Kong: Skull Island

Great film. Wish the recent Godzilla could have achieved something similar

The Boss Baby

Not terrible. Not pixar.

Death Note
Death Note(2017)

Didn't quite live up to it's potential, but nevertheless an enjoyable film

All Eyez on Me

Movie lost my attention in the first ten minutes and never really recovered it.

Rough Night
Rough Night(2017)

Decent movie for a date-night in with the wife

Alien: Covenant

Feels like the same re-hashed story line. Pretty, but ultimately nothing new.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Space abandonment issues. These characters are wasted on these sub-par story lines

Goon: Last of the Enforcers

Not quite as good as the original but a fun movie following the further exploits of Sean William Scotts defining roll

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman(2017)

Could do with a few less sexual innuendos, otherwise this is just about the perfect superhero movie

The Mummy
The Mummy(2017)

If this is indicative of the quality of this new monster-franchise I may give the other films a miss

The House
The House(2017)

Enjoyable movie. Memorable moments

The Survivalist

Feels rehashed. Slow paced.

The Babysitter

McG delivers again. Great movie

Baby Driver
Baby Driver(2017)

The climax could have been tweaked a little, otherwise this this just about as close as one gets to a perfect film.

War for the Planet of the Apes

I think this franchise has run it's course

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Sloppy with poorly delineated motivations and messy story line.

Brigsby Bear
Brigsby Bear(2017)

Wonderful story. Excellent film making. Mark Hamil's best film of 2017

Wind River
Wind River(2017)

One of the best movies of 2017. Taut thriller / mystery.

The Hitman's Bodyguard

would've been more enjoyable if it was about half the length. Long winded. Decent movie to kill time.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

An unexpected gem. Not without it's problems but this is the film 'The Last Jedi' could have been.

we get it. He likes to stare at people and the author wants to exploit it. WOW. Could've told this story in 20 minutes.

Neat idea, poorly executed

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

didn't quite deliver as well as the original

Blade Runner 2049

Not sure what the intent was in making this sequel but it just felt like meandering without any discernible purpose. A shame really

Enjoyed watching. Felt a little flat at times, but very well made.

Well made, but failed to engage the audience or clearly develop any of the main characters.

Justice League

Far from a perfect film. But an enjoyable pop-corn flick with some good action sequences and measured comedy. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Terrible writing. Terrible acting. Seems entirely driven by an agenda to upset and frustrate the fans of the series. This film's only success was to entirely dissuade me from watching any further Star Wars movies.
