"Life is not a cafeteria"

Good movie set in the late 1950s, early 1960s. A coming of age film that has ping pong, work, academics, class, cocktail parties, love, & loss. There is also forgiveness, love, & redemption. Well worth seeing.

"Nothing's Shocking" ---Jane's Addiction

This film produced 15,000 jobs. Amazing little fact. In the late 1990s was an avid comic book collector. In South Florida near Miami had all the issues of X-Force including first appearances of Deadpool & Cable signed by the creator Rob Liefeld at a comic con in S. Florida.

This film is entertaining & great story. The big Hollywood over the top violence & at times over the top humor can get a bit cumbersome yet take it w/ a grain of salt letting it roll to enjoy a solid film that is better than most of the recent big budget comic book films.

The film is complex & engages you in many ways from a philosophical to a cultural paradigm shifting perspective that can challenge your beliefs in a good way.

It is interesting times we live in. I am a product of the 1990s yet this film engages viewers in the current times we live in. Give it a chance & am sure it will be an enjoyable film leaving you plenty of food for thought long after the film ends.

Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot

Don't Worry He Won't Get Far On Foot is a film by Gus Van Sant. I have seen many Gus Van Sant films over the decades some loving & some loathing. His films have a dark element to them like the PNW overcast sky since Oregon or the PNW is where his films at least partly take place. "My Own Private Idaho" w/ River Phoenix & Keanu Reeves is probably my favorite Gus Van Sant film until now.

Don't Worry´┐ 1/2 1/2 1/2 1/2 1/2 1/2w/ Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara, & Jack Black is a sweet & sour film that dives into the rock bottom lows of addiction follwed by the rise above energy of a Phoenix of redemption. He finds his redemption through 12 step meetings, support through friends that understand his quirky eccentric outlook. He overcomes the crippling lows of addiction & spiritual bankrupcty to find a creative spark w/ his drawings that are his outlet along w/ love of Rooney Mara.

Having lived three occasions in PDX aka Portland, OR & Eugene, OR feel this film captures the authentic outsider grit better than Portlandia. Of course Portlandia is a comedy show geared to the mainstream helping them understand other lifestyles. While "Walk the Line" about Johnny Cash was a good film that Phoenix should have won best actor for. Feel Phoenix does even better w/ this one. Of course this film isn't for everyone as feel it will be a film for real punk rockers & won't win any awards which it should ;)

Just as Ramones & Velvet Underground records weren't on top of the pop charts the records are still stand the test of time many decades later. Thank you Gus Van Sant. Thank you for all the actors, actresses, supporting cast, etc to make high authentic heart in the 21st century.

Brilliant biopic of the Tibetan Buddhist Master who brought Dharma to the West. He lived an unconventional life adopting to Western ways to transmit the teachings of the East. Basic Human Goodness. Fearlessness. Great film for anyone interested in spirituality & being a better human to benefit others in the world.

This film has over the top special effects some of which are done by real life extreme sport athletes yet falls short on the substance of the original. Pass on this one & see the original.
