- Im a non-conformist. I dont care what other ppl say or think about smthn. I have to check it for myself and then decide. I have no preset rules or criterion for liking a movie. not all movies that won golden or silver palms, bears or lions and have not been seen by more than 12 people are necessarily good and not all the blockbusters that sold hundreds of millions of dollars are necessarily lame and/or shallow. what I basically look for in a movie, is visual, aural and cerebral engagement and pleasure. that said, I GENERALLY dont like horror movies. I have enough vivid memories of war, gore, blood, pain and death not to need a movie to entice "horror" in my heart. and BELIEVE me, NOTHING looks more zombie like than a human being hit with mustard gas; walking his last, shaky, aimless steps around while his skin is melting off his body. and yes I've seen that. so why bother watching a washed down version on the screen, with a million times less intensity and reality to it?!? I dont like it when - as a member of audience - Im being taken for granted. I dont like it when a job is not well-thought-of or well done and the ones involved, think they can get by simply because no one will notice. I also dont like pretentiousness. I dont like it when a director unnecessarily over-complicates a movie just to prove to everyone how freaking smart and philosophical he is or how different and unique his work is. I dont write long and detailed reviews. Im not a movie critique. for me, watching a movie, or listening to good music, gives birth to a sensation. what I try to do - and most of the time fail - is to put that sensation into words. its like trying to describe the feeling of smelling wet earth or listening to an infants innocent laughter. damn hard to pull off. I'm a music freak and student ( in that exact order). I listen to almost anything except pop and hip-hop ( and I'll even listen to those if they are well-made and meaningful ). I'd be glad to talk about music with other music enthusiasts.
