King Kong

A brilliant remake that took the old story and made it feel fresh, What with Skull Island being more of a threat with adding Dinosaurs and weird creatures to make the film feel more dangerous, Although the effects were good most of the time there was a few scenes were you could tell were done behind a green screen and they looked pretty bad, Kong looked pretty good too, My main problem was it was too long and it takes an hour for the cast to even get to skull island, Apart from the length and a few poor scenes with the green screen it's still a great remake.

Godzilla

One of those films I was excited about but was also worried about it being a disappointment just like the 1998 version but it turns out it was very entertaining, It starts pretty slow while we get introduced to all the cast, Infact it takes around 30-45 minutes to introduce Godzilla and the Kaiju or as they're known in this as M.U.T.O. (Yes that's right there's more than Godzilla that's causing problems) Infact it's the M.U.T.O. that cause the most problems while Godzilla is turned into the hero, Just like in Gareth Edwards Monsters it's got allot of human screen time when all we want to see is giant monsters smash up cities and kick the crap out of each other, It takes a long time to see what we were waiting for and Godzilla's screen time is suprisingly short, The effects were fantastic but the 3D didn't really make a difference and not worth paying extra for, Eventually we see quite a huge destruction of the city, It's nothing like the previous attempt at Godzilla as it's way better and not to be missed.

Not as good as it should of been, Very little to remember but a few nice shots of New York destruction, The cast were boring and Godzilla wasn't as fierce as it should of been and it was too predictable that it was hard to really enjoy but they did try a few new ideas like the babies but they weren't much of a threat to really take seriously, It's worth a watch but you will feel let down more than wowed.

A brilliant and new take on the classic King Kong tale but its main purpose is to set up an extended Monsterverse as the extended universe fad seems to be the craze at the minute, The story differs from the original as there's no pretty blonde actor that steals Kong's heart (Thank god) Although there's little nods to the original story with 2 scenes with Kong and the only blonde woman in the film, Nor does he get captured and climb the Empire State Building, He stays on Kong Island and just like the rebooted Godzilla movie Kong is the peace keeper and is hunting creatures such as the Skull Crawlers, A giant Octopus with more than 8 tentacles so it's not really a Octopus but still, He does kill allot of people at the beginning but his motives behind killing them were understandable, As we heard Kong will Fight Godzilla in a sequel they had to make Kong much bigger, He must be 3 times the size as he usually is and as we are told in the film he is still growing so he's only going to get bigger which is good as they need at least to make it a fair fight in size between them, There's even giant Spiders and other animals that attack the cast, Speaking of the cast they were great and all had a good amount of screen time, I was worried about when they added John C. Reilly to the cast as I thought he might kill the whole tone of the film but he was given just the right amount of screen time to provide touches of humour but still put in a good acting performance and he even had a touching scene at the end of the film, The effects were amazing and some of the best I've seen, I can't comment on the 3D as I watched the 2D version but I'm betting the 3D would of been good, The action was fantastic with some great monster fights that really steal the show, It's better than Godzilla thanks to it being a true popcorn flick and the fact we don't have to wait 40+ minutes to actually see Kong, This movie will get more people looking forward to the future films, I know it's got me more excited.
