Critic Consensus: With changes in the visual and characters' voices, this reboot's first season doesn't shine as bright as the original series, but the girl power trio shows once again that it's made of sugar, spice and something nice.

News & Interviews for The Powerpuff Girls: Season 1
In this reboot, there's no real attempt at rocking the boat-no elaborate retelling of the Powerpuff Girls' origin story, no winking acknowledgment that this is a new version of a classic, not even a flashy redesign for any of the characters
The show lacked the fun action of the original, instead throwing in horrible humor. Worse was the use of constant memes that made it instantly dated.
This reboot seems to take everything we loved about the original series into account, even while adjusting it for a 2016 audience.
The animation is a bit sharper, the voices are different, and the character designs are just slightly more feminized, but the show's unrelenting spirit is still there.
I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised that the new versions of The Powerpuff Girls felt like a continuation of the original series despite a nearly wholsesale change in the creative team behind the scenes.
