It's also impossible to ignore the fact that the show used Crisis as an attempt to reboot a love interest that really wasn't working. At its heart, that's a deeply lazy move. Kara deserves better - and so do Supergirl's viewers.

At first, it seemed as if Supergirl was going to ignore the Acrata storyline and reduce Andrea to a background character. Thankfully, Andrea is becoming Acrata once more.

As an episode, "The Bodyguard" is a perfectly fine hour of genre TV. As part of a season-long arc, however, it feels like a decisive shift in the right direction.

Still not sure how I feel about Kara/William, but I do love a dual-identity storyline where the besotted person confesses their feelings to the object of their affection in disguise.
