Space Force will just be another throwaway piece of cultural ephemera, forgotten in the endless gaffes and episodes of Trump's Theatre of the Absurd.

When our world is so mad, it's hard to then go and write a comedy that tries to be madder than real life actually is.

What might have seemed like an edgy political satire when it was developed in 2019 now suffers from the fact that truth has become stranger than fiction. ... As the show's tagline reads, "Nowhere to go but up."

Pointing the finger at Donald Trump's own ludicrous delusions with quick smart comedy, Carell and Daniels prove once again their humorous talents are a galactic force to be reckoned with.

Space Force is a massive misfire as the comedy flails from joke to joke, not knowing how to land. The Netflix show doesn't seem to know what it wants to be.

Space Force needs an identity other than "satire", because it is impossible to satirize America right now.

Carell and Malkovich shine. Even if the show feels arrogant and some jokes don't work, some situations feel freshly funny. [Full review in Spanish].

While it attempts to be timely and relevant, throwing jabs at a questionable leader and his mission of returning to the moon, Space Force leans on cheap humor and shallow narrative constructions.
June 12, 2020
Greg Daniels and Steve Carell's new show can't decide what it wants to be, or if its main character is worth rooting for...
June 11, 2020
... lazy and pointless.
June 10, 2020
Space Force is too deferential to be satirical: far from deflating Trump's supposedly absurd scheme, Space Force buys into the hype and then some.
June 9, 2020
Actor Steve Carell and creator Greg Daniels take a handful of winning ingredients -- an enigmatic cast, tautly-written physical comedy, ever so slightly daring jabs at those higher up -- and puts them in a zany, compelling new setting.

Despite everything going for it, "Space Force" is just OK.
June 5, 2020
It's hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong with Space Force because everything about it goes so terribly wrong.
June 5, 2020
In a lot of ways Space Force is a lot like the real thing; flashy and expensive and something you can't look away from. There's no denying it's not as funny as it should be and not as emotional impactful as it wants to be.
June 4, 2020
Immediately, the show is rendered toothless, its humor deprived of any bite and pathetically offering up zingers on office rivalries, nepotism, and weird co-workers.
June 3, 2020
Despite the iffy and flat parts, the sweet and silly satire is a success.

The show isn't as funny as many Office fans hoped, but it's passable enough to add to your quarantine diversions.

There are genuine pockets of hilarity and warmth to be found, often in their own standout bubbles, but nothing quite fits together the way you'd expect from a team of pros with plenty of comedy hits under their belts.
