Watching Mad About You feels like visiting each and every long-term couple I know - but there's still not much to be said, or that many laughs to be had.

Is it worth watching? If you liked the original, I think so. But of course, if you don't have Spectrum, it's irrelevant, because you can't watch it.

Paul and Jamie are so awful in their return that it's hard to remember why we liked watching them every week in the first place.

It's kind of fun seeing Reiser and Hunt slip back into these characters, but as is so often true with these exercises, the kick/novelty pretty quickly wears off.

It's a soft incitement and leads to a soft reboot. It's pretty middle-of-the-road stuff and you never feel like NBC made a mistake in not wanting this reboot

Spectrum's Mad About You reboot is agreeable enough to coax some smiles and even a little audible laughter on occasion.

In an era where every half-remembered show is being resurrected, the difficulty that this one had in finding a new home might suggest there's not much demand for it. Nor do the revival's early episodes suggest there is much need for this to exist.

Reiser and Hunt retain an amiable chemistry, and Hunt especially makes a compelling case for her continued stardom. She makes neuroses, then as now, seem less like a curse and more like a side effect of thoughtfulness.

The Mad About You revival can best be described as the television equivalent of a shrug emoji.
