It's subject matter feels real and relevant, yet it has the glisten of well-trodden comedy.

Bawdy cabaret headliner Bridget Everett is sensational, balancing uninhibited raunch with unexpected sweetness as Karen Best.

What I responded to in the pilot was something pilot director Bobcat Goldthwait has always done well in his features, namely starting off with what look like caricatures and quickly finding compassion for them.

Bridget Everett had been one of the best kept secrets in the comedy...On Love You More, her comedic brashness is on full display.

It's unlike anything I've ever seen. It's got soul and raunch in equal measure. It'll break your heart and lift you up.

Bold and sentimental in the way TV is allowed to be.

[Bridget Everett] has a gift for playing tender moments with authenticity, suggesting that Love You More would potentially steer into fresher and resonant terrain.

With the addition of greater stakes, this could become an addictive series, but unfortunately that's absent in this pilot.

It's the biggest showcase so far for Ms. Everett's knowing, tough but vulnerable persona, and it gives her occasions to sing, including a production number about buying a bra (which is, once again, focused on her body).

There's a real sweetness running through this show, especially in Karen's interactions with her roommate Jean (Loni Anderson), a seventysomething widow who likes hashtags.

It walks a line between the bold and the sentimental that I would guess a lot of people are going to find appealing.
