Homecoming is an exercise in postmodern pastiche that seems to have forgotten to have much of a story.

Despite a star-studded cast and some visually creative flourishes, Amazon's glacially-paced podcast adaptation is less of a thriller and more of a sleep aid.

There is an excellent aesthetic here and wonderful performances, but one can't help but feel like the series becomes predictable. [Full Review in Spanish]

Homecoming is a visually lush exploration of trauma, memory, and the human heart vs. the mind.

A slow burner yes but so satisfying, both emotionally and in terms of plot, by the time the characters come home.

Homecoming is straightforward and completely bingeable; the 10 thirty-minute episodes fly by, always making you want more when the "Directed by Sam Esmail" text pops up at the end.

The risk pays off. "Homecoming" lights up the screen as a TV series and provides a quick, thrilling binge.

With a great deal of style and substance, Homecoming is a classic conspiracy thriller in the mold of Hitchcock, thrillingly updated for 2018.

Wisely paced and structured, "Homecoming" is an engaging thriller delivered with a classic style. You can process it in adequate doses because Esmail wants to tell a good story and knows bloated episodes dent the effect.

This new series will keep you interested, asking, "What really happened?"
November 1, 2018
Homecoming plays on the ideas of memory, the military industrial complex and unchecked government privilege to create a visually stunning thriller that feels positively Hichcockian in its slowly unfurling mystery.

The show is good, is what I'm telling you, and Roberts has a major hand in keeping it so consistently satisfying.
November 12, 2018
It is an interesting premise that calls out corporations and politics for putting profit above humanity, but it isn't awe-inspiringly original.

While Esmail's directorial choices may, at times, be too much, Homecoming is a fascinating series and the best performance by Julia Roberts in years.

This may not be a traditional horror story, but Homecoming is a top notch drama that will fill you with dread and unease and you will love every second of it.

With Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail directing, the show has a distinct visual style that sits perfectly with the tense, paranoid mood of the show... Roberts is predictably outstanding as the idealistic Bergman.

It's an interesting and unsettling re-structuring of the detective drama, and it adds to the visual and aural onslaught from Esmail and co, who are pulling the strings to engage the viewer even when the story lulls.

The whole theme of it is a sense of unease - making you feel slightly paranoid and uncomfortable. That's the real joy.
November 2, 2018
Homecoming's thrills feel contemporary, yet distinct enough to stand apart in the morass of television that's readily available to binge. And if Amazon needs a show to gain some momentary cultural clout, Homecoming is an excellent bet.

Homecoming has too many strengths - and is a story too strikingly told - for its flaws to find real purchase.
