Penguin's Umbrella

Critic reviews for Penguin's Umbrella

After some of the laziest writing I've ever seen not only on this show but any show ever, Gotham had its best episode so far this season.

Just when I thought I couldn't hate Barbara any more... BAM! She goes and gets herself kidnapped/held hostage TWICE in one episode. Seriously, this damsel in distress bit is ridiculous.

It's Penguin's journey that so far is the most interesting to actually watch... You see, once we get over to the right side of the law, once again, Gotham falls apart.

A highly entertaining hour of television that was full of crazy-wacky moments from television's campiest superhero drama.

What made "Penguin's Umbrella" a successful episode, first and foremost, was focus. There was a dedication to a singular storyline in this hour, which has only been shown in spurts the previous six.

This was about as perfect an episode of the show as one could ask for. Everything came together beautifully, the plotlines were genuinely impressive and show a knack amongst the writers for long-range storytelling that bodes well for its future.
