Critic Consensus: While those looking for a stylish new procedural with a few unexpected nuances will find much to like, Deputy sticks too closely to its genre guns to break any new ground.

News & Interviews for Deputy: Season 1
Unfortunately, all three entries are as predictable as they are fine with being predictable. "Deputy" doesn't give off so much as a whiff that it wants to be more than a by-the-book, case-of-the-week cop drama.
Dorff is at the center keeping it entertaining, and the ridiculousness of some of the plotting to start the series is almost admirable, but this is an inconsistent show in every way.
All of this is too ham-handed to merit a seal of approval from yours truly or likely most other TV critics.
Western-style police show has violence, drugs, some sex.
Deputy is off to a good start. It has its finger on the pulse of the current political climate, but never leans so far left or right that it will push away those with more ardent opinions.
