Brooklyn Nine-Nine deserves to be praised for its ability to simultaneously make fans laugh and keep them on the edge of their seat without taking away from the social issues the series manages to address.

Boyle's new family drama will be interesting to explore, as will the dynamic between Amy and Jake.

The new season is in no way revelatory, but more of the same -- it's just that the same was already so damn good.

The show's new network, NBC, has taken the core qualities of this unstoppable comedy and given them a bit of a glow-up. That's what honeymoons are all about.

If you'd told me in 2013, when Brooklyn Nine-Nine debuted, that a cop comedy starring the guy most famous for "Dick in a Box" would end up producing one of the best #MeToo TV episodes ever, I'd have thought you were bananas.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is what it has always been: Kind, quick, and very, very funny.

That the new season doesn't seem to have missed a step after jumping networks - and has, in fact, improved - is yet another work of divine providence.

NBC is diving in head first and not letting any of these characters rest. And, again, the jokes are still A+ and rapid-fire.

"He Said, She Said" handles misconduct with both humor and sensitivity.

BK99 was a show that impressed out of the gate with how lived-in its ensemble felt, and sixth seasons in, that strength has only intensified.

A radical reinvention this is not, but hard-won stability can be just as satisfying and impressive to watch.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is just as goofy, warm, fast-moving, and funny as ever. Even better, the new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine seems to be doing exactly what any show in its sixth season should do.

Braugher wields the show's popcorn-cooking patter like a scalpel... [making] each punchline land to even greater effect. It's one of television's best performances, and in this year, it's better than ever before.

It's all comfortingly familiar while still being new.

It's a dark episode, one which may invoke a lot of feelings in the women who watch, who recognize their experiences on screen.

[It] excels in a somewhat understated way, as despite being 114 episodes into Brooklyn Nine-Nine's run, it serves as a functional, proper introduction to all of the main characters... as well as an introduction to the type of humor this show is all about.

For anyone worried about the show changing tacts for its new bosses, fear not -- it's still the same show and still great.

The show fits in perfectly with NBC's Thursday-night lineup, where hopefully it will remain for several seasons yet to come, because the series is showing no signs of slowing down.

It's smart, silly, good-natured, and very Brooklyn.

Season six of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will offer that reassurance as surely and as humorously as the first five seasons did. But when push comes to shove, I'll always look for something a little bit spikier.
