Brand X with Russell Brand: Season 1 (2012-2013)
Critic Consensus: Russell Brand shows some promise as a talk-show host thanks to his unpredictable energy, but Brand X ill-serves the comedian's strengths with a shapeless format and dearth of funny gags.

As such, some of it was compelling and some of it tedious... Brand is a compelling performer, clever, quick, self-deprecating, and clearly a thinker and questioner.
Charitably put, those poor saps in Brand's dingy-looking studio audience look appreciably more entrapped than entranced. The star of this ill-conceived show... completely fails to get untracked from halting start to grinding finish.
I'm not sure what message Brand X is trying to convey, but when he jokingly begs the audience to "Hear me out - then throw me out," I'm sure anyone still watching and listening will be more than willing to comply.
Brand X is one weird show that might be funnier to those who watch in an innebriated state.
So far Brand X is, at best, mildly amusing, But it also most certainly comes off as a work in progress.
