Canary Cry

Critic Consensus: Arrow aspires to classic tragedy in a mournful episode that gives Black Canary a proper eulogy, although some viewers may find that the heartbreak was unearned.

Killing off the Black Canary was, for many of us, a mistake... And yet, in "Canary Cry" I couldn't help feeling moved by her passing and by Team Arrow's reaction to her death. Paul Blackthorne's performance was particularly powerful and heartbreaking.

Watching Lance trying to cope with his daughter's death was incredibly heart-wrenching.

I guess you just wanted to move on from Laurel. In a way, that's understandable. Her character never worked.

There's a sense throughout the episode that the writers and performers are unaware they are carrying the unenviable burden of drumming up emotions that may have passed their expiration date.
