The Vast of Night (2020)
A wonderful science fiction film that uses its small scale to its advantage. It never loses its sense of fun even when floating on its darker edges, and for a first feature from Andrew Patterson, it's an astounding achievement.

The Wrong Missy (2020)
This movie is enjoyable, and it's definitely something I recommend watching if you want some lighter fare.

Bad Education (2019)
Too many dead ends like this lead to a choppy narrative that lacks the slick and shiny cohesion the filmmakers seem to be attempting.

Lost Girls (2020)
Despite some strong performances and a compelling message, it does come off a little underbaked at times.

All the Bright Places (2020)
It's rare for a film adaptation to overcome "the book is better" pitfall, and All the Bright Places is not one of those rare cases. Although, it is a decent film with many rewarding elements.

The first half of this sequel is brimming with adorable little moments that instantly pull us back into the warm fever dream of teenage love that is Lara Jean's life.

A holiday movie that should become a viewing tradition year after year.

Don't expect to be rewarded for making it to the end because the luck and charm that carried the first film to stardom are nowhere to be found by the time the credits roll.

Same Time, Next Christmas (2019)
An enjoyable watch, and easily one of the best original Christmas movies in years.

The Irishman (2019)
It's incredible when something can live up to and surpass the hype-The Irishman is already a classic, instantly time-honored, and will pass through that slightly open door into the annals of great American cinema.

A Christmas Wish (2019)
As for the story, it's so much fun!

Twinkle All the Way (2019)
If I had to describe Twinkle All The Way in a phrase, it would be "mature whimsical"...there is nothing cheesy about the whimsy of this movie .

The Knight Before Christmas (2019)
The Knight Before Christmas isn't perfect but it comes as close as a Christmas rom-com about a knight and science teacher can.

A Sweet Christmas Romance (2019)
As sweet as a sugar cookie.

Let It Snow (2019)
A winter wonderland worth exploring.

Christmas Reservations (2019)
Clever wordplay doesn't make a movie.
Posted Nov 4, 2019
Aaron Paul's performance, as he essentially carries the entire movie on his shoulders, is remarkable.

Between Two Ferns: The Movie (2019)
All of this is a particular brand of funny, and Between Two Ferns: The Movie hits all the right beats.

Downton Abbey (2019)
Everything that made the original run great is here in the film and on a larger scale.

I Am Mother (2019)
I Am Mother offers some interesting social commentary on the idea of motherhood but stops just short of making its point.

Deadwood: The Movie (2019)
Deadwood: The Movie makes a fine point to stay true to itself and its people, as brash and as misguided as they may be.

The Silence (2019)
Though it all, The Silence never loses its tension and the plot unfolds in a natural progression leading to an ending that feels perfectly deserved and fulfilling.

Unicorn Store (2019)
Unicorn Store is a fanciful movie steeped with some magical rainbow elements, but its strength lies in the overarching message and the amazing performances.

Rent Live (2019)
Despite its imperfections, it nevertheless managed to evoke the kind of joy and heartbreak that Rent fans should expect.

Christmas Pen Pals (2018)
I can say with certainty that Christmas Pen Pals is at least a few steps above every other film I've seen in the genre.

No Sleep 'Til Christmas (2018)
No Sleep 'Til Christmas is definitely worth your time. Especially if Christmas movies aren't usually your cup of cocoa, so to speak.

Homegrown Christmas (2018)
Homegrown Christmas is one of their newest and greatest examples of unique storytelling. The warm, fuzzy feelings it conveys gets everyone into the holiday spirit, just in time for Christmas.
Posted Dec 10, 2018
Save for a strange Christmas pageant and a few brief scenes with cookies and Christmas trees, Royal Wedding is missing some Christmas spirit.

The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
The Christmas Chronicles, despite my initial reservations, turns out to be an emotional yet family-friendly holiday film that should hold up for many years to come.

The Christmas Contract (2018)
It delivers the romance and happiness we are allowed to expect from this genre, without too much of the extra cheese or Santa that can sometimes be off-putting to a Grinch like me.

The Princess Switch (2018)
I find these twin-switch type movies fascinating when one actress is doing all of the work. I'm not saying Hudgens in a Netflix movie full of tropes is Emmy worthy, but it takes a lot of work.

A Christmas Switch (2018)
All in all this film is a perfect way to bridge the gap between young and old, mothers and daughters, family and friends this holiday season.
