Wind River (2017)
Critic Consensus: Wind River lures viewers into a character-driven mystery with smart writing, a strong cast, and a skillfully rendered setting that delivers the bitter chill promised by its title.

Critic Reviews for Wind River
Wind River ticks all the right boxes. It also leaves a bad smell.
A curious but ultimately humane story of brutality and grief on a vast Native American reserve in Wyoming.
It's an American thriller that will certainly appeal to fans of Scandinavian noir.
In its marriage of man and landscape, Sheridan's film is like an Anthony Mann Western remade. It's a Naked Spur gone snowy; a Far Country gone far, feral and scenically tremendous.
Audience Reviews for Wind River
I nearly bought this as I like most of Elizabeth Olsen's movies. So glad I did a 99c rental instead. Really wasn't into this at all.
Taylor Sheridan is an excellent screenwriter but here directs a barely average effort that, despite Renner's solid performance, fails to be cohesive enough and offer compelling motivations for Olsen's character, who is mostly wasted and doesn't have that much to do in all this.
Taylor Sheridan's third film of his Trilogy about the modern American trilogy is the gloomiest. The hunt for a murderer and rapist in the snowy Wyoming mountains is as chilly as it sounds, driven by great acting and culminates in a burst of violence. 50 years ago this film, similar to the two unrelated predecessors, would have worked perfectly as a western movie. It basically still is one. Outstanding work by everyone involved.
