We Pedal Uphill (2008)
Critic Reviews for We Pedal Uphill
With a few notable exceptions, pic relies on O. Henry-esque twists, simplistic surprise endings and "aha!" epiphanies to gets its points across.
Despite [director] Tec's worthy intentions, the movie is a mixed bag that seems outdated in its failure to take on the most distressing legacy of the Bush years: the global economic collapse.
The performances are across-the-board solid (most of the cast is theater-based).
All of Roland Tec's miniportraits highlight the snake oil hucksterism and manufactured fear that still beset America.
The lack of research is painfully apparent throughout, as Tec's failure to articulate issues from voting fraud to the Patriot Act ultimately reduces any potentially valid social criticism to mere conspiracy theory.
