Critic Reviews for The Summer House
Chain-smoking, guzzling booze and spouting worldly epigrams about love and life, Moreau fits into Croydon like a peacock in Antarctica, sashaying around and imposing her seductive will on everyone.
Joan Plowright and Jeanne Moreau turn this slight BBC production into a jolly lesson about how two great old theatrical broads can liven up an arty domestic drama.
Apart from offering a juicy star turn to Moreau, the movie has a lot of mordantly funny things to say about the conventionality of suburban English life, and all the actors shine.
Acting together in top form, Ms. Moreau and Ms. Plowright are something to see.
The movie is unable to decide whether it wants to be a lighthearted comedy/drama, or something darker and more serious.
Audience Reviews for The Summer House
One of the most eccentric movies I have ever seen. It had the most bizarre ending.
