Critic Reviews for The Final Girls
As horror comedies go, this one sadly winds up somewhere between Scary Movie 4 and 5.
"The Final Girls" is never once scary, the effects are schlocky, and the action/fight scenes are confusing, especially one that takes place in a dark shack where it is impossible to tell what is happening.
The Final Girls is all smiles and winks, but lacks the blood to make its horror satire pulse.
A playful deconstruction of the slasher film that ultimately packs a surprisingly affecting punch.
A horror comedy that proves that with the right actors you can make an amusing movie even if a lot of your ideas are borrowed.
Audience Reviews for The Final Girls
Make a slasher movie that's about an R-rated slasher movie, then make that movie be PG-13? Solid weird ass choice. But whatever, The Final Girls is some proper fun.
Amusing film-in-film horror comedy with a pretty fresh premise and good acting. Unfortunately, even within the movie's logic, not everything makes sense. You can see past that and have a decent time anyway, and there are some very fun ideas and insane camera angles. Other ideas are brushed over a little half-assed. Overall a decent attempt that could have turned into a classic with a little more care.
