Critic Consensus: Absurd yet anchored in knotty real-world themes, The Day Shall Come adds another bleakly funny satire to director/co-writer Christopher Morris' filmography.

Witty and surreal, yes, savagely satirical and often chilling, but it's not really rolling-in-the-aisles material.

The Day Shall Come has a disappointingly similar approach, while tackling a much less edgy and altogether easier-to-trounce subject.

It's a diverting scenario, though maybe it doesn't quite have the "danger - high voltage" thrill of Morris's other works.

The Day Shall Come isn't prime Morris, but it's definitely not a total bust, either.

The Day Shall Come may draw from reality, but it fails to reflect it back to us with enough force to make us stop in our tracks.
Morris has already proved he can do lacerating mockery. At a time when we hear ad nauseam that current events are "beyond satire", making people feel something may be the greater achievement.
