Movie Info

Anna Fritz, a beautiful Spanish actress and one of the most desired women in the world, has suddenly died. Her body is transferred to a city morgue, where a withdrawn young orderly, Pau, becomes fascinated with her lifeless cadaver. When Pau sends a picture of the dead celebrity to his two friends, they show up at the morgue for a glimpse of the beautiful starlet. As the whiskey bottles and coke packets empty, the three friends decide this is an opportunity they can't pass up to get up close and personal with the corpse of Anna Fritz.

A Spanish film that maybe it would work better as a shortfilm. [Full review in Spanish]

A proposal that manages to be very entertaining in its short seventy-something minutes. [Full review in Spanish]

[The] script says some very intelligent things about how the population feels entitled to have access to celebrities (especially in the wake of social media over the last five or so years) and how those interactions can escalate inappropriately.

The film is not an easy watch, nor can it be said to be in any way entertaining; it's short, nasty, brutal and utterly compelling.

Maintains a white-knuckled momentum throughout its admittedly brief runtime.

The Corpse of Anna Fritz doesn't invoke the philosophical horror needed to take it out of B-movie territory.

Audience Reviews for The Corpse Of Anna Fritz (El Cadáver De Anna Fritz)

Making a film about necrophilia is pretty gutsy and makes for a pretty unsettling atmosphere. Saying anything more than that about the plot would already spoil way too much. The film is short and on point, aware that you can't drag out the premise for too long. There are some decent moments of suspense but in the end things go down rather predictably after the early shock. Still, entertaining enough.
