Hard to do worse than this extremely gory mess.

The new Massacre lowers the bar much the way the original 'dead teenager' horror flick did way back in 1974, and makes a mockery of that industry self-policing rubber stamp known as the ratings board.

Exists to scare teenagers the old-fashioned way and generate sequels. In that, it will probably succeed, as it's catering to a less-than- discriminating crowd.

The remake is not obscene because it's disgusting; it's obscene because it's carefully structured to be absolutely devoid of meaning.

For dedicated admirers of the original, this version is just another rehash of the classic, but for new-comers or those who are looking for a good, old-fashioned scare, then there is plenty of meat on this table.

All of those outraged holier-than-thou reviews ("Revolting!" "A waste of time!") that wrongly came out about the original in 1974 could be correctly applied to this new version.

As for Nispel's polished but run-of-the-mill hedonistic remake of Chainsaw, this blood-stained offering is about as fun and adventurous as counting roadkill along a dark country pathway.

This poor mediocre remake brings nothing and adds nothing to an already classic film...

It took The Texas Chainsaw Massacre about 15 minutes before all my anticipation was completely stripped away and replaced with utter boredom.

The original movie has been ripped off so many times over 29 years that a genuine remake comes off as a copy of the copies.
