Stuart Little 2 Reviews

August 14, 2012
The film is fairly formulaic, though some of its puns and wisecracks are hilarious, especially those delivered by the Littles' lazy and cynical Persian cat.

The plot, however, is both shabbier and less emotionally involving than its predecessor.

It's painful to admit it, but the tiny, perky FX mouse in jeans and sweater once again carries the summer's most enjoyable kids' movie.

When Stuart tells Margolo that her wing is as good as new, she demurs, then appears to allude to the relative merits of SL2 and its cloying predecessor: 'It's much, much better.'

At 78 minutes it just zings along with vibrance and warmth.

This is all the stuff that was so watchable the first time. Done over. But at least it's nonlethal entertainment.

The world of Stuart Little is a wonderful thing to snuggle into, as full of heart and pep and innocence as the title character himself.

As immaculate as Stuart Little 2 is, it could be a lot better if it were, well, more adventurous.

An overcalculated, up-to-the-minute kid flick that buries the book's mysteries under a pile of noise, misguided action sequences, and product placements for the PlayStation 2.

The color sense of Stuart Little 2 is its most immediate and most obvious pleasure, but it would count for very little if the movie weren't as beautifully shaped and as delicately calibrated in tone as it is.

Both Stuart Little ... and the even better Stuart Little 2 ... are superior family films that have perfected a seamless fusion of live action and animation in which it is difficult to tell where one leaves off and the other begins.
