Fishburne is a ruthless killer that gets captured on film by a little girl. She makes her way into Thomas' house and the standoff begins. Nothing too twisty happens - but it's an entertaining hour and a half.

Gritty, entertaining flick that lacks overall purpose.

The standoff is ultimately between some B-movie cheese and a disturbing thriller.

You know those scenes in movies where two characters are pointing guns at each other, but they're both afraid to shoot because the other one might also pull the trigger? Now, imagine an entire movie made up of one of those scenes.

Decent B movie...better than expected, just don't expect much.

Reasonable Run-Time With Two Duelling Actors Made This Actually Not Too Bad. It Is Pretty Violent Tho.

I've never seen Lawrence in the character of a bad man, but he pulled it off.

In the spirit of The Professional, this is a pretty good flick. Thought the back story ran a little week, but the plot was captivating.

There's something undoubtedly brilliant about this low budget slow burn. Standoff captivates almost immediately as the first few minutes are the bases of the plot. The tension and suspense are present during the entire runtime with absolutely no hint what might happen next or how it all concludes and that's thanks to the great writing, directing, and performances.

Very well executed film. Fine acting specially by Fishburne. Real suspense that keeps the tension going while dishing out high quality drama. A must see in the suspense genre.

Language aside, any film that can keep you engaged, wondering how it all will end, with so few characters and basically all in one location is doing something right.

Despite positioning itself as a simple throwback action B-movie, Standoff is actually much more evolved than it appears. Firstly, the three core characters are all brilliantly portrayed, even "Bird" who is played by a child actor was phenomenal. A bad performance from even one of these three would have brought the whole thing crashing down, thankfully all of them are dedicated to their respective roles. Even Lawrence Fishburne, whom I was worried would just be hear to take an easy paycheque and phone it in hard wound up actually giving the best I've seen from him in years.

There are a couple of lulls in the middle of the piece, and a handful of underdeveloped side-plots. But it overall, and especially the climax, made Standoff a surprise hit for 2016.

It's tense but there's not much going on. There's no surprises or twists. It's all very dry and predictable.

There is a lot to like about this film... Including the slow methodical dialogue sequences which set the story up for an interesting ending. Yet, what impressed me the most, was the almost constant level of tension I felt throughout the entire Standoff...It's the type of film which can keep the viewer tuned in to every word and move, from start to finish ! Solid 3 Stars !
