A weird mix this. I think its meant to be a tongue in cheek horror comedy but its fails bigtime on both. Sad to see Craig McClaughin is such trash

John Jarrat is clearly living off the back of Wolf Creek and whilst that was a great film, this one is not. Low budget, badly acted and scripted. A film that would feel at home in the bottom of a bargain bin. Avoid!

Savages Crossing is a micro-budget horror flick written by John Jarratt and his son and it really is just an exercise in vanity. Jarratt had a fleeting glimpse at resurrected stardom with Wolf Creek and so he's essentially written himself another psychopathic lunatic role in a similar vein. But hey, the movie works. The first 10 minutes are woeful as its shot in day light and the lack of budget shows, but once night falls and the rain pours, Savages Crossing has a great atmosphere and performances. Craig McLachlan is actually really good as the 'take-no-shit' country farmer and in my opinion he steals the show. Its not great by any means, but certainly worth a squiz.

Incredibly bad. Plot is all over the place, incoherent and full of holes. Direction is sloppy. Performances are woeful.

Avoid.

Guy gets out of jail, tracks down his wife and son, and they get flooded in at an outback roadhouse with some other folks. Not a bad premise, but the film is dull, silly, and pointless.

Craig McLachlan does quite well as the heroic bloke, but the rest of the cast are just... uggh. John Jarrett tries to recreate some of the scares of Wolf Creek and fails completely. His son gets a lead role, and will hopefully abandon all further plans to act.

Don't bother with this one - rent Wolf Creek instead.

Why the hell was this movie rated 3 and a half stars i'd have no idea. It was boring, poorly cast aka the cast have more talent than to do crap like this that ruins careers and the storyline was just ok not cool like in Wolf creek or Rabbit proof fence but plain. I pick this as the worst movie Australia has ever released. My warning to others A tom cruise movie is better than this garbage..

Very bad weather. Rising floodwaters. A cast of characters stranded in a remote Australian roadhouse. One character is a vengeful ex-convict who has deliberately stopped taking some of his medication and started drinking instead. Two others are his wife and son who were trying to get away from him but didn't make it. Another is a fearsome bald cop who has been hired by the wife to kill her husband. And there's also the big tough-looking truckie played by '80s heart-throb Craig McLachlan who also owns the roadhouse and wonders what he did to deserve getting stuck with these mad bastards.

'Savages Crossing' is an over-the-top horror-thriller that is good fun to watch.
