Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)
Critic Consensus: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies manages to wring a few fun moments out of its premise, but never delivers the thoroughly kooky mashup its title suggests.

Critic Reviews for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
The movie strives to be both scary and funny but winds up being neither.
It's entertaining at first that our heroine and hero can slay zombies as expertly as they parry quips but the joke wears thin.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies does exactly what it says on the tin, rather entertainingly too, especially if you have seen one too many tasteful television adaptations of Austen's work.
Despite its production values, the film plays like a 1990s Comic Strip Presents spoof. It is lively and entertaining early on but once we get accustomed to its strange mix of gentility and blood-letting, the magic dissipates.
This seems like it's just laughing at Austen. It feels like anti-fan-fiction.
Audience Reviews for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Better than it had any right being, but still not very good.
It takes itself seriously as an Austen adaptation... but as a zombie movie less so. "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" may sound like a tonal nightmare (at times; it's close), but a charismatic/ game cast sell it for more than it should be worth. It's actually pretty fun.
Pride, Prejudice ... and Poor Directing. The story is fresh and enticing, but the direction is inexpert in this would-be period flick. The actors are hamstrung by inept direction, middling costumes and a clear unfamiliarity with period ambiance. From the plainly 20th century brickwork of structures in multiple scenes (is this a hipster coffee shop?), to the inexplicable Japanese handle wrap on swords used by 19th century Englishmen, to the bizarrely anachronistic London setting, "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies" is a confused mess. I both wish it were better, and wish it were worse. As it stands, the film is not satisfying from any perspective.
