Mamma Mia! (2008)
Critic Consensus: This jukebox musical is full of fluffy fun but rough singing voices and a campy tone might not make you feel like "You Can Dance" the whole 90 minutes.

Critic Reviews for Mamma Mia!
The story is ... urh. No film has ever had a more irrelevant story.
A sage once advised being wary of movies in which the people on screen are having more fun than the people in the audience. Mamma mia, was that good advice.
The legal definition of torture has been much aired in recent years, and I take Mamma Mia! to be a useful contribution to that debate.
The movie's spirit is somewhere between High School Musical and Hedwig and the Angry Inch; it's at once dorkily wholesome and proudly slutty.
Audience Reviews for Mamma Mia!
The musical numbers are infectiously entertaining and the performances top-notch but tends to become a bit too saturated especially when it seems to dilute the story/plot. Overall, Mamma Mia! is a solid musical to keep you dancing and singing until you literally (and physically) cannot any longer. 3.3/5
I don't wanna talk about the things I've gone through, watching this trashy, cheesy and poorly directed ABBA musical in which almost no one can sing decently - especially Pierce Brosnan, who sounds like a dog barking - and it only makes me wonder what this is all for.
You can't blame a musical for having too much singing, I suppose, but one has to wonder what a really great comedy script could have done with this. The actors are likable and seemingly had fun, the landscapes are beautiful, it all feels like a big summer party where someone plays shitty music. The creators clearly thought just adding one ABBA song after another works as a film, and the fans of the band might agree, but anyone who hopes for a bit of plot or surprises should have a hard time with this. Still, the good mood is somewhat infectious, you can't deny that.
