Long Shot is a success in the polls thanks to Jonathan Levine's assured directorial hand, committed performances by Rogen and Theron, a stronger than expected script, and a romance that is genuinely romantic and affectionately heartfelt.

A fun date night movie which offers viewers a step above the typical rom-com fare that has most women swooning. You can do far worse than to spend your time and money on.

US secretary of state Charlotte Field and windmill-tilting newspaper journalist Fred Flarsky are multiple poles apart, but she gets his wisecracks and his combative writing.

It was fun seeing Theron-always elegant and, of course, gorgeous-lighter and sillier than I've ever seen her. And comical, clever Seth Rogen, formerly cast as the buffoon or best friend in movies, is now slimmed down and almost believable as her guy.

The outcome is more incredible than the romance between Theron and Rogen, in a reserved society like the American one. But if they don't laugh at themselves, who is going to do it? [Full review in Spanish]

Does Seth Rogan ever read over what he writes? This feels like a quick first draft of a comedy film that needed a second read to make the story work, add some layers and stronger jokes. All the voices sound the same, and all like a tired Rogan.

'Long Shot' is a comedy front runner about politics, journalism and love.

Long Shot succeeds far more by dodging sharp suggestion or troubling resonance than by expressing a point of view - even as one proves perceptible within it.

Levine's comedy works, supported by a well-built story and by its political background that makes (Long Shot) a smart comedy. [Full Review in Spanish]

There's something about the unexpectedly shrewd beauty and the beast story line that proves as charming as it is thoughtful. This is a smart romantic comedy for smart audiences.

Disappointingly erratic...

Situationally unique, funniest in small zinger doses, and frustrated enough with ongoing civil failures to at least say *something* - as textbook that blueprint may be.

Beyond satire that's anything but politically correct, Long Shot is a definite crowd-pleaser with its heart in the right place.

As political satire Long Shot is pretty light, but as romantic comedy it packs plenty of charm into a straight forward formula.

It felt like two, maybe three different movies stitched together? The idea is that they'll blend at some point, but they don't.
