Audience Reviews for Insutôru (Install)

Install is certainly "different". In some respects that is good. The tone is unlike a lot of films which makes for an interesting movie. The themes it covers such as identity, coming of age and sexuality are all handled in a mature way but through childish and naive eyes. The idea of drawing parallels between becoming a young adult and rebooting a computer are surprisingly well built upon. The problems then? A lot of the movie is handled through chat-rooms and dream sequences. Both get old fast and soon disappoint. The major contributer to ruining this film is the dreadful musical score. It's annoying "quirky" background music that just plays, pretty much non-stop, without any real relevance to which seen it is played over. This becomes so-tiring and distracting, as it even intrudes on lengthy dialogue segments. It almost destroys the film as a whole and made it a lot harder for me to get through it.
