Critic Reviews for I'll Cry Tomorrow

All Critics (4)

In the '40s, Hayward had a distinctive and rather bitchy sex appeal and clear hunger for stardom that gave way in the '50s to a weary but still authoritative command of frank self-pity and tough-broad defiance.

We always love Susan Hayward

July 11, 2007 | Rating: 4/5

Apelando vez por outra para o melodrama, o filme resiste ao tempo graças à performance corajosa de Susan Hayward e à forma realista com que retrata o drama do alcoolismo.

Audience Reviews for I'll Cry Tomorrow

Susan Hayward seemed to relish these roles on the edge of what was expected in American cinema in the 50s. Here is the no holds barred biopic of Lillian Roth that raised the bar for biography films to an unprecedented level.

1950's bio-pic about the rise and fall (and rise) of actress/singer Lillian Roth. A melodramatic take on alcoholism that rivals The Lost Weekend. Okay, there were a few moments when the sap was thick enough to draw flies, but overall one hell of a performance from the vivacious Miss H. A must-see for Susan Hayward fans of all ages.

Sad story but Susan Hayward's powerhouse performance holds you from beginning to end.
