Who would've thought Hobbs & Shaw would make you appreciate the subtly of the Vin Diesel-led films? This is one of the weaker entries in the Fast and Furious franchise, and that's say something with Tokyo Drift.
What made "Mission Impossible: Fallout" so remarkable was the honesty in its extravagance--that really was Tom Cruise up in the helicopter! This avoids honesty the way its stars avoid off days at the gym.
Leitch manages to inject some real excitement late in the proceedings, but it's too little too late for this overstuffed feature. Hobbs and Shaw may have finally received their own film, but it is not the one they deserved.
