I found the story a little iritating at key points. In real life, you'd never take a jumpy, skittish guy (who has already shot an ape) and is forever pointing guns in the wrong direction, anywhere near the apes. Also, the 'Security' detail not knowing the apes were intelligent ("Shall we shoot him?") at the dam site, stretched believablity to breaking point for me. I know these scenarios drive the story, but seriously, pussy boy - I mentioned forst - wouldn't be allowed a toy gun, let alone a real one. Effects-wise, a job well done, but I just got pissed at the silliness of the above mentioned.

This film is brilliant from start to finish. One of my all time favourites.

Even better than Rise, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes adds a heavy dose of action and drama, built on interesting questions with no easy answers.

Was the best film of the year and even now should be regarded as one of the best sci-fi film series of all time

With more complex characters, improved special effects, and terrific acting from both digital and live characters, Dawn lives up to the standards set by the classic original.

I found this to be really boring and I couldn't get into it at all.
The human characters were unengaging and the apes were one dimensional. Terrible movie.

This movie may top the summer for me. Wonderful story, great, great script with memorable moments and a pleasure to watch unfold. Beautifully shot, well acted, superb effects. Themes on human nature (disguised as "Ape" nature), society and honor are very powerful. But a great story and characters, not just an essay. Go see it!

Absolutely spectacular and entertaining. From the heartfelt callback of Caesar's (Andy Serkis) human family, to the intense action; and all the way back to the Shakespearean storyline, it's utterly breathtaking as a film. Completely outdid the first reboot film. Fantastically done.

Continuing the momentum of the previous films thrilling conclusion comes an improved and emotionally triumphant sequel. As a leader, Caesar inspires well beyond the average human

Strengths: This is basically just what I wanted from this installment. The first movie did well to set everything us and make us connect with Caesar (Andy Serkis). This one expanded on it without giving us a full on war yet. The suspense is well handled by Matt Reeves throughout. There are plenty of scenes where things have potential to escalate and the atmosphere is tremendous. Serkis is once again fantastic. We feel even more for Caesar this go around as he now has a family and gets turned on by a friend. It´┐ 1/2(TM)s heart breaking. The movie builds and build to some special moments that are worth it at the end. Judy Greer (Cornelia) was also one of the stronger acted apes. Jason Clarke (Malcolm) and Keri Russell (Ellie) both gave very good performances as the compassionate and understanding humans. The world feels realistic and I love the various takes on fatherhood, similar to the first one.

Weaknesses: Gary Oldman (Dreyfus) felt super underutilized. He´┐ 1/2(TM)s a great actor who could´┐ 1/2(TM)ve been a strong addition to this franchise. Especially when we got shots of the character´┐ 1/2(TM)s kids being gone. But he doesn´┐ 1/2(TM)t really do anything. Kirk Acevedo (Carver) was also way too generic. He played the typical jerk who ruins everything by being a dick and it never clicked. It felt like he was trying too hard.

Overall: An improvement on the first film. They take what made that work and expand on it, while giving us a lot of suspense, plot twists, and emotions.

With incredibly intense and suspenseful writing and atmosphere, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" proves to be worth a watch with great performances and a stellar plot.

This is a slower paced, but rewarding, drama. It involves action and fantasy elements, but this takes what was a fun and riveting first installment and increases the scale and depth of the material to create a serious drama, The acting is brilliant and award-worthy, the visuals are stunning and the story itself is well-written. It has its beautiful and entertaining set-pieces, but also its intimate sequences of drama and character development that takes the risk of slowing down in its pace (though this never is a detriment to the film). This is one of the best epics of recent years.

Big step up from the first well done.

Probably the most overrated film in the history of television. The first and third films were solid. This one was terrible. None of the humans had any complexity to their characters. None of the humans had any interconnectedness or history with each other. Pathetic.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is an exception in modern-day Hollywood. The movie manages to exceed and expand upon the previous movie and makes the world feel a whole lot more realistic. It takes ideas about leadership. fathership and much more and brings it into this crazy world where Apes mostly run the place. It somehow manages to be realistic despite everything happening. The characters are fleshed out and have clear and understandable motivations. The visual effects are outstanding and are used as a tool to tell a story instead of a story being created surrounding the visual effects. The acting, namely Andy Serkis is great. It isn't just some person acting out dialogue that is being changed in the recording booth, it is really Andy Serkis conveying emotions and talking to other actors, it is amazing. War for the Planet of the Apes is a movie I'm looking forward to.

It is rare for main characters to be this completely boring and devoid of any emotion. We were so board we actually turned this off halfway through, which is unusual. The ape main character, Caesar, is just grumpy all the time. The main human character, Malcolm, looks around dumbly. The kid looks scared. Koba is angry. Maurice is wise. Carver is a jerk. Ellie takes care of people. This is the extent of character development. On top of this, the story is boring and doesn't really take advantage of any unique aspects of the premise. The apes have basically been turned into primitive humans. So...what? Oh, and then there are betrayals and fights and stuff.

Solid movie with a good plot

Really good cgi. Interesting take on why humanity became mute. But, I am getting tired of the anti human, specist films. Overdone. Nova was an interesting twist and homage to the original Nova.

esta supera a la primera,su historia no deja de impresionarnos,es perfecto la manera como muestran los tiempos y sus peleas, como evolucionan, como se comunican como la gente busca la guerra como ellos estßn cansados de verse los malos.
