Critic Reviews for Christmas Carol - The Movie
A pity the film as a whole could not match Winslet's singing voice, the only ripe plum in an otherwise rum pudding.
Charles Dickens's oft-filmed classic ghost story here suffers the final indignity of being turned into a sentimental and unimaginatively drawn cartoon.
This strange hotch-potch of an animation falls between all stools: failing to honour the seasonal elements to this most famous of Christmas fables while not doing anything new
Milder than some versions of classic, but still a bit scary.
The narrative is so curiously lacking in audience appeal that kids may find the prospect of spending Christmas in the workhouse more attractive.
Audience Reviews for Christmas Carol - The Movie
The animation is very bad and not detailed at all. This animated adaption of the Dickens classic novel may have good voice acting but everything else is without a doubt entirely dull and without magic.
One of the worst adaptations I've ever seen. The animation is very, very poor. It looks outdated, and is hardly fluent. The story is changed around for some inexplicable reason. No emotion at all, Scrooge isn't likable at any point and for once I couldn't care if Tiny Tim died or not. The live action moments of "Dickens" didn't really have a point, and some of the vocal casting was simply bizarre (Nicolas Cage as Jacob Marley). The two mice whether CGI or traditionally animated are such a huge distraction. Why is Scrooge so nice to mice? It almost destroys the character. We're not supposed to see the good in him until the Ghosts intervene. Oh well! They can't all be classics.
